Your generous donations will help the Dr. Shirley Davis Foundation make a significant and lasting impact in the lives of marginalized and underrepresented individuals and communities!
This pillar focuses on equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed financial decisions, particularly in relation to homeownership.
Within this pillar exists the program, First Foundations, which series of workshops and seminars where participants gain a solid understanding of financial literacy topics such as budgeting, saving, credit management, and debt reduction. They learn practical strategies for effective money management, enabling them to establish a strong financial foundation and make sound financial choices.
First Foundations places a special emphasis on educating first-time homebuyers. Participants receive specialized training on the homebuying process, including topics on mortgage options, down payment assistance programs, negotiating contracts, and understanding real estate terms and concepts. They gain the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the complexities of the housing market and make informed decisions when purchasing their first home. Each year, the Foundation will select a deserving first time home buyer to receive a monetary gift towards their down payment.
By equipping individuals with the necessary knowledge and resources, the program strives to create a more financially savvy and empowered community. Ultimately, First Foundations aims to increase homeownership rates and promote financial well-being among participants.
